Chapter 2. Indoor Positioning Services and Location-Based Recommendations

Jim Hahn

Abstract

Chapter 2 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 53, no. 1) “Internet of Things: Mobile technology and location services in libraries”

This chapter reports findings of a research project which integrated Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Beacons into an Undergraduate Library’s book stacks. With BLE technology researchers were able to implement a location-based recommender that relies on subject classifications in call numbers from which to provide recommendations based on location.
