Chapter 7 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 53, no. 6), “Open Source Library Systems: The Current State of the Art”

Chapter 7 concludes Library Technology Reports (vol. 53, no. 6), “Open Source Library Systems: The Current State of the Art,” by discussing the impact of open source products on the library automation environment. While selection of open source solutions has been moderate, it is a growing part of the competitive environment. The presence of open source has increased competitive pressures on the commercial offerings to moderate pricing, has accelerated development, and has improved support services.
