Chapter 3. Assessment

Erin Baucom

Abstract

Chapter 3 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 55, no. 6), “Planning and Implementing a Sustainable Digital Preservation Program,” covers a series of assessments that help organizations determine their current digital preservation abilities and their goals for the future. The assessments include a digital media inventory, determining personnel, technology, organizational infrastructure, and financial resources available using existing tools such as the National Digital Stewardship Alliance’s Levels of Preservation. Also included are strategies for how to map the assessments to certifications like TRAC and models like DPCMM to create goals for your program.
