Chapter 1. Design Trends and Approaches

Abstract


Chapter 1 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 58, no. 5), “Design Trends and Approaches,” looks at changing approaches to how we design tutorials, what we teach, and how we teach it. It first looks at two newer instructional design models and how these models help us design better tutorials. Next, we look at how the Association of College and Research Libraries Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education has changed what we teach from discrete skills to more conceptual information literacy topics. How librarians teach is then explored.
